Sugi guitars was founded by Nick Sugimoto in 2002, after more than 40 years of experience innovating and building one of the finest guitars globally. Nick led the design and engineering at Fujigen, worked with Fender Custom Shop, Ibanez, Yamaha and many more.  Nick was also the inventor of Steve Vai’s Iceman finish.

These days, Nick brings all his experience to Sugi guitars. Many of his guitars use “aqua timber” in the neck construction, making Sugi guitar necks extremely strong, great sustain and clarity. They also have custom finishes, pickups (they have one of the best sounding passive pickups in the market), and more. Sugi guitars are great for bassists that want a fast, responsive neck, thick and punchy tone that cuts through the mix like butter.
