Ritter R8 - Sandblasted Ash (Sold)

The R8 is Ritter's first foray into the singlecut design for their amazing line of basses. This model was launched in NAMM 2012 to a huge success, and very well received amongst the bass community. It encompasses intrinsic wood working to the finest detail, light weight, extreme playability and tonal flexibility. This is not just a bass that delivers musically, but it is also a masterpiece. I have never seen a piece of ash personified to this art form!

This is a Musikmesse 2012 showpiece, and has been featured by Guitarre and Bass Magazine and www.basstheworld.com

This bass is made with from a gorgous piece of sandblasted ash, uniquely accentuating the beautiful grains. The neck of the R8 is made from highly figured flame maple, stained in faded charcoal colour which is a perfect match for the sandblasted ash body. Ebony is used for the fingerboard, and there is a matching headstock as well. At 7.92 lbs,  this bass is extremely lightweight, effortless to play for hours on end.

Tonally, the R8 sounds nothing like any ash bodied basses I've played. Typically, lightweight ash tends to lose some definition in the mid range. However, this R8 has very rich fundamentals in the mids. It is paired very well to the ebony board that brings out the right amount of brightness and attack to the tone, without sounding brittle. This bass is very responsive to capture soft nuances as well as fast attacks when doing slap and pop. The R8 is equipped with Ritter's own C-3-S preamp. It has a 18V 3 band EQ, with an active bypass and passive tone control. Activate the coil splitter for the triplebucker, and it becomes a single coil.

The R8 has been widely used by many top professional bassists around the globe, including Phil Lesh (Grateful Dead), Prince, Jack Bruce (Cream) and Mary J Blige.
